Please help support my project and make a difference in our community!

I am 15 years old, from Bellows Falls, Vermont. I am a Life Scout as well as the Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 252 in Springfield, Vermont.
I am currently a sophomore at Bellows Falls Union High School. I am a member of the Bellows Falls Baseball and Football teams. I am also on the Post 37 Legion and BF Babe Ruth Baseball teams.

I have officially been participating in scouts since I was in kindergarten when I joined Cub Scout Pack 258. Unofficially I have been participating in scouts since I was 2 when my older brother joined Cub Scouts where I got to tag along at most all of their meetings and events including family camp overs and community service projects.
In fifth grade I crossed over from Cubs into Troop 252 where I have been working through the ranks learning important skills, leadership and giving back to our communities. Since joining the troop I have had the opportunity to do many things and go many different places, adventures I may not have been able to do otherwise. Places I have gone include Washington DC and Iceland. I have also gone to scout camp at June Norcross Webster in Connecticut twice.
It is my goal to make Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouting. I am this project and a few merit badges away from completing this! I am hopeful of making Eagle this summer.

I am working toward achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, which is the highest rank in Scouting, To achieve Eagle, I must first complete an Eagle Scout project where I can demonstrate my ability to plan, lead and to serve my community. For my project, I have chosen to restore and upgrade a place that is near and dear to me, the Saxtons River Rec Area Derby Pond.
The Derby Pond is just up the road from my home and every year hosts a fishing derby that kids from the ages of 4 through 14 can participate in. It is one of the biggest events around for kids from all over to come and catch (or not) the big one and something my family has been in charge of making happen for over a decade. People fish at the pond all summer long and it is a safe and quiet place for the very young to go to learn how to fish. Over the years the pond has become more forested and a little rough for wear. The benches that were installed over 15 years ago are falling part and the vegetation has become overgrown in many places.
My project is to purchase and install 4-5 composite benches as well as restoration of the grounds. I have already completed the first step which is to put together and submit to the state council my Project Proposal which they approved and now I must move onto the second step which is to raise awareness and funds to pay for it.

Through the Eagle Scout Project process I have developed a budget which has helped me come up with an estimate that would allow me to purchase and install 4-5 composite benches as well as restoration of the grounds. Based on estimates that I have received from local companies so far I will need to raise $6,000. I hope to raise this amount in full by April 1st with help from this site as well as various fundraising events like bake sales, gifts and donations from the community.
I plan on keeping this page updated regularly with updates about my fundraising goals, a list of donators, volunteer opportunities and all of the steps to follow so that those who wish can see the progress we have made.
The timeline for the installation and restoration is to have everything in place and ready to go prior to May 2, 2026, which is the first Saturday in May when the next fishing derby will be held. I really appreciate you taking the time to read about my project and I hope you will be able to help in my fundraising efforts.
